When did Celtic move to Parkhead?

The club moved to the current site in 1892, after the rental charge was greatly increased on the first. The new site was developed into an oval-shaped stadium, with vast terracing sections. The record attendance of 83,500 was set at an Old Firm derby on 1 January 1938.

Why is Celtic an Irish club?

The club was established by an Irishman, Brother Walfrid, whose goal was to help improve the conditions in which the Irish immigrant population in Glasgow lived. Walfrid, who was born Andrew Kerins in Ballymote Co. Sligo, chose the name Celtic to reflect the club’s combined Irish and Scottish identity.

Why is Celtic FC pronounced Seltic?

Following its French and Latin predecessors, early pronunciation of Celt was actually \SELT\. The variants were introduced by language and history academics who believed that the pronunciation of Celt should reflect the initial \k\ sound in the ancient Greek Keltoi and the Classical Latin Celtae.
